Fair Shares was set up in January 1998 to create the UK’s first time bank and to explore ways of using time to rebuild communities.
We now run five time banks in banks in Gloucestershire based in Gloucester, Newent, Moreton, Stroud and Stonehouse. We also work with three prisons in the county and run a county wide time bank supporting families and disabled children. We are also in the process of setting up an organisational time bank so that community groups in the county can share resources and expertise.
All of our time banks connect people, help them share time and strengthen communities. Last year the time banks joined 800 people in a mutual network of support, which created 47,000 hours of community support.
Fair Shares Gloucestershire is a Registered Charity, number 1110418.
