Set up in the year 2000, the Gloucester Time Bank is one of the largest and most dynamic timebanks in England. It started off as four small timebanks based in the neighbourhood projects of Podsmead, Coney Hill, White city and Matson. The idea was successfull and as more people joined, those small projects were combined and expanded to create the first City wide timebank in the country. We have participants from all over the city, from all walks of life, and it's this great mix of people that makes our timebank what it is.
We have over 300 participants and over 70 organisations in the timebank. The work we do varies from small things like getting someone to help a neighbour change a lightbulb, to much larger projects like working with Gloucester Prison to get bikes refurbished and sent to health workers in third world countries. We like to think there's something for everyone - everyone has something to offer, and anyone can get involved. New projects in Summer 2011:
