Stroud, Stonehouse, Dursley
Britain’s first time bank was launched in Stonehouse in 1988, now we also have active groups in Stroud and Dursley with other members dotted around the Five Valleys.
We have all kinds of members; some have a lot of spare time others just an hour here and there. We can help with things like garden work, decorating, help with computers, learning a language or a musical instrument, or visiting someone who is housebound to name but a few. Classes have been run by fair shares members to learn about such things as relaxation techniques, car mechanics and computer training. Enjoying the local area is also important to us, so we have organised trips to visit the Severn Bore, exploring and learning about the local countryside and visiting areas with beautiful wild flowers.
The Stroud group usually meets 4pm on the last Thursday of the month at the Star Anise café
The Stonehouse group meets 10.30am on the first Thursday of the month at Stonehouse Community Centre, Laburnham Walk (off Regent St).
The Dursley group works closely with the GL11 community project and the Lower Kingshill Management Cooperative.
