You can find information below about each of our working areas in Gloucester. If you have additional needs or would like to ask us anything, please call us on 01452 415900 or email us on time@fairshares.org.uk.
Our main Gloucester office has on-site parking and is easily accessible by public transport (1, 2, 2A buses stop directly outside the building).
Our Office
Our office is found on the second floor of a smaller building behind the main ‘The Friendship Cafe’ building. If you’re unable to use stairs then we can arrange to meet in the peace room, a ground-floor room located off the hall in the main building. The peace room also doubles as a quiet space.
To get to our office you must go through the main Friendship Cafe building. You have a choice of either stairs or a ramp to reach the locked front door which swings outward. To alert us of your arrival you should press the chest-height buzzer at the front door labelled ‘Fair Shares’. This will connect you via a call to our office, whereby a member of staff can arrange to meet you and guide you if you wish.
Once you’ve been let in you can go through a short carpeted corridor leading to a double set of doors which open outward and will take you to the main hall with a wooden floor. At the left-side far end of the main hall there will be another set of double doors which open inward. Going through these doors will lead you to a small hallway, and another set of doors opening out into the back yard area.
After entering the back yard, immediately to your left will be another two storey building which has our office on the second floor. The entrance requires you to go up one step. If you enter the building you will be in a small hallway with curved stairs leading up. Go up these stairs and you’ll find a locked door with a buzzer, which will notify the office you’ve arrived.
Accessible toilets can be found in the main Friendship Cafe building, with signs pointing to them.
Wood Workshop
Our workshop is the large, green building located in the backyard of The Friendship Cafe. It has a regular sized single door which serves as the main entrance as well as a larger roll-up shutter for wood deliveries. We have paths marked out on the floor with yellow tape. The flooring is concrete with no noticeable bumps.
Our workshop has a mezzanine area located up a flight of stairs where the wood is stored and is not otherwise accessible.
Allotment
Our allotment is off-site, located at nearby St James City Farm. There are two entrances. One is off the main road and accessed by a gravel path. The other is on the main pavement and has double doors with a concrete ramp, making it wheel-chair friendly. While you can enter the allotment, most of the paths around the planters are made using paving slabs and potentially not suitable for wheelchairs. The rest of the floor is either grass or chipbark and similarly unsuited for wheelchairs. A portaloo is located on site. The gate to the allotment is locked if a member of staff isn’t present.
