Apple Picking at Castle Fruit Farm

Group of participants listening to Michael as he explains the age and the variety of apple tree he's standing by,
We were delighted to have another opportunity to take some participants on a trip to Castle Fruit Farm near Newent which was organised by Clare, community support manager at Gloucestershire Gateway Trust.

Chrissy and Michael Bentley, alongside their farm manager, once again gave us a warm welcome and whilst we all had a hot drink and some of Chrissy’s homemade flapjack they told us about the different varieties of apples, pears and plums they grow before we went out into the autumnal sunshine to do some apple picking ourselves. We then went to look at the apple and pear juicing room and watched the process before sharing lunch in the farm kitchen. It was a very enjoyable and informative visit for us all.

Thank you to Castle Fruit Farm for the day and all the apples we picked – these will now be shared out with participants and within the local community!
