Bulb Planting Workshop

We had the first of our two mini-sessions on planting bulbs, down at our allotment.

Gardening is a fun activity that anyone can get involved with but it can be a bit overwhelming if you don’t know where to start. To try and make things easier, Rachels been doing some mini-workshops down at the allotment to teach the basics.

The first workshop she did involved planting bulbs. First Rachel gave a quick run-through on how to prepare a pot for planting – gravel at the bottom, some peat-free compost, then the bulb near the top and some moss after that. After that our ladies picked out a pot of their own and had a go at following the instructions. They could choose from narcissi, daffodils, crocus or hyanicths to plant.

Some advice was then given on how to care for them (don’t place in too warm a location), general chit-chat was had, and some we had some spare anemones to hand out so they could try growing them at home.
