Down at the Allotment

26th August 2020
Lots has been happening down at our allotment, thanks to Rachel and various volunteers.

We’ve had a bumper crop of tomatoes, strawberries, onions and courgettes as well as lots of parsley, chives and other herbs. Visitors to the allotment have been able to take some of the produce away to enjoy themselves, and some has been used as part of our COVID-19 lunches.

New and existing participants, as well as Community Payback, have been visiting regularly and helping clear the allotment. Discovering old paths, organising the tool shed, painting signs and pulling up weeds – all vital tasks that help make the allotment better and more accessible.

Young visitors from local schools have also been joining us, making their own fairy / dinosaur gardens and enjoying some pizzas from our pizza oven. We teamed up with a local infants school to deliver mini boxes of produce to pupils families.

Our ‘Social Wednesdays’ have started at our allotment too. Every Wednesday, from 10:30 till 12pm, our allotment is open to visitors. You can swing by, have a chat, join in with the gardening and perhaps take something home to enjoy.

If any of this sounds like it’d be up your street then you’re more than welcome to join us!
