Gloucester has a wealth of opportunities for people to take part in. One key issue though is that they can be hard to find.
With that in mind, alongside GCH, we organised and then held a “Seniors’ Freshers’ Fayre”. People over 50 in particular may be finding themselves with more spare time, or looking to find ways to get more involved in their community in preparation for retirement.
Volunteering has such a broad spectrum of activities that it can feel overwhelming to newcomers. We hoped that by gathering together a range of organisations and giving them the time and space to showcase their offerings, we could help those unaware of what to do.
We’d like to extend a big thanks to The Eastgate Shopping Centre who provided us with a great space in their mall as well as supporting us in a variety of ways, like offering tables and chairs. We hope to keep this relationship active and continue collaborating further in the future.
Of course we would also like to take the time to thank and list all those who joined us at the event:
