Woodwork with Gloucester Services

We recently welcomed some guests from Westmorland Family’s Gloucester Services to our workshop!

As one of Gloucestershire Gateway Trust’s community partners we’ve worked with Gloucester Services many times in the past, from assisting with their beehives to taking along a group of young people to help plant trees in their growing space. Jon, our workshop manager, is also currently leading an effort to build bin covers with planters on top for the Services.

This time they were looking to refresh their meeting room. We were asked if we could make a table for it, and also help some of their employees craft individual chopping boards that would then be turned into a wall display.

In both sessions Jon gave them a quick display of how to use the tools and then let them loose. It was great to watch them get stuck in, and see the different directions they took with their designs.

After finishing they had this to say: “It was such a lovely day, a really nice collaboration – it has inspired all of the colleagues that attended. […] Time really well spent for us all, we really enjoyed our time and its nice to see the instant results!”

We hope to welcome them again in the future.
