Making Connections

12th March 2025
Recently we set up a notice board where people can put what they’re handy at and what they’d like a little help with.

Time banking is about building connections between people through the exchange of skills. We thought providing a physical show of what’s in demand and what’s on offer might encourage more people to reach out. We started by wheeling the notice board out at our weekly lunch club and there’s already been a great result.

Mike, one of our lunch club regulars, is keen on geneaology. He put on the board that he was happy to help with piecing together people’s family histories. Nicki, who also comes to lunch and our wood workshop, took him up on his offer. After a couple of weeks he came to one of our Monday lunches with all he’d discovered. Nicki was incredibly moved, as you can see, and Mike was happy also to be able to share one of his interests.
