Making our allotment more accessible has been on our to do list for a long time. However, we’ve always lacked the ability to do so. We’ve finally been able to start work on improving it due to local helping hands.
Staff from B&Q – Simon, Jan, and Glyn – came for a community day and helped widen the paths around the allotment, making them wheelchair friendly. Our portaloo also received a makeover, and they donated some tools to help us keep the allotment looking good.
Ringway, the people in charge of Gloucestershire’s highways maintenance, spent a day at our allotment. Adam, Nick, Philippa, Alex and the rest of the team put in a new entrance to our allotment. There’s now a slope, meaning those who have difficulty with mobility find it easier to come in. They worked really hard and managed to get all the work done in one day, which was amazing.
We’re thrilled to have our new gate in action, as well as our improved paths, hopefully making our allotment an even more welcoming space.
